The GMAT Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) is often referred to as the GMAT Essay. It’s designed to measure your critical thinking skills and your ability to communicate your ideas. It consists of one essay question, in which you are given 30-minutes to analyze an argument. Specific knowledge about the topic is not required, and you are not supposed to present your own views. You are simply required to analyze the reasoning behind the argument and to write a critique of that argument.
